Gary Edwards, M.D.

Gary Edwards, M.D. began his practice of comprehensive ophthalmology in Hawaii in 1977, and is the original founder of Honolulu Eye Clinic. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson University's Jefferson Medical College, at 22 years of age, Dr. Edwards completed his training in ophthalmology at the Thomas Jefferson University-Wills Eye residency program in Philadelphia. He pioneered various refractive procedures and was instrumental in initiating the first ophthalmology operated excimer laser center in Hawaii. He was also one of the first doctors to bring CK to Hawaii. Before his retirement, Dr. Edwards was consistently named one of the Best Doctors in Hawaii by Honolulu Magazine.

Although he retired in late 2008, he left a legacy of over 30 years of exceptional patient care that continues on at the Honolulu Eye Clinic. Dr. Edwards hand chose Drs. Jeff and Rupa Wong to perpetuate his vision at the Honolulu Eye Clinic - to provide total eye care, from glasses and contact lenses , from medical to surgical services. Though he no longer sees patients, Dr. Edwards continues to provide mentorship to the doctors at Honolulu Eye Clinic.
